Our Range
Seamless Pipes and Welded Pipes in Malaysia
Seamless Pipes Malaysia
Seamless pipes are produced from a solid billet that is pierced and drawn into a tube, so there is no longitudinal weld seam. Because there is no seam, the wall is uniform around the full circumference. This is why seamless pipes are commonly specified for higher-pressure lines, critical process piping and applications where weld integrity would be a concern.
Meta Piping supplies seamless stainless steel pipes and tubes in Malaysia to ASTM / ASME A312, in TP304 / 304L and TP316 / 316L.
Welded Pipes Malaysia
Welded pipes are formed from stainless steel strip or plate that is rolled and welded along its length. Welded construction is typically more economical than seamless and is widely used for general process lines, utilities, water systems and structural work where design pressures allow.
Our welded stainless steel pipes in Malaysia are supplied to the same ASTM / ASME A312 standard and grades as our seamless range.
Seamless Pipes and Tubes: What Is the Difference?
In industry usage, a pipe is usually ordered by nominal pipe size and schedule (wall thickness), while a tube is usually ordered by its actual outside diameter and wall thickness. Meta Piping supplies both seamless pipes and tubes in Malaysia. Tell us how your drawing specifies the size and we will match it.
Seamless vs Welded Pipes: Which Should You Choose?
| Factor | Seamless Pipes | Welded Pipes |
|---|---|---|
| Construction | Pierced from a solid billet, no weld seam | Rolled from strip or plate and welded along its length |
| Typical use | Higher-pressure and critical process lines | General process, utilities and structural work |
| Cost | Generally higher | Generally more economical |
| Standard at Meta Piping | ASTM / ASME A312 | ASTM / ASME A312 |
If your project specification or design code names the construction, follow it. If it does not, our team can talk you through the options for your pressure, media and budget.
304 vs 316 Stainless Steel Pipes
304
TP304 / 304L is the general-purpose austenitic grade, suited to most process, water and general industrial applications.
316
TP316 / 316L adds molybdenum, which improves resistance to chlorides and pitting, so it is usually chosen for marine environments, coastal plants and chemical service.
“L”
The “L” grades have a lower carbon content, which helps resist corrosion around welds.
