This series starts off so well, then somehow… falls apart. I didn’t know it was “Season 1.” I was led to believe it was a complete story, 6 episodes long. Because of that, it’s not enough – it leaves you hanging – and it’s stretched too thin. The casting and production design are great, but it’s like the original Twin Peaks: once the “big crime” is settled, the story is over. Trying to keep up with the side plots becomes painful, no matter how much we enjoy our time with these quirky characters. I know I should have suffused this review with syrupy jokes, but Maples always makes me sad because it’s so spicy. … A guide to all the new movies and shows streaming on Prime Video in the US this month.
